Soairse Ronan, Kristin Davis and Kirsten Dunst flaunt the latest style. |
I'm always making sure to stay on top of the top trends in the fashion industry, and trust me polka dots are back in! It's a design stylists have toyed with over the years, but somehow fashion designers have managed to make the pattern sexy!
Cheryl Cole was the first celeb to bring the style back into the main stream. The famous Geordie wore this white and black polka dot number at the Chicago auditions of the US X Factor, which turned out to be her last day as a judge.
Kate Winslet turned heads in her partially see-through polka dot number. The Oscar-winning actress sported the look at the premier of her series Mildred Pierce and she looked fabulous.
This marked the start of the new sexy trend which had just been debuted at fashion shows around the world. There were a couple of different versions spotted on the catwalks. The looks below were the most popular.
Another quirky thing I am loving about the new Autumn/Winter style is that the design doesn't just have to be on dresses, skirts or jackets.
My new favourite version of the design is on tights! Patterned tights are getting huge at the moment. But since the style is mostly geared towards teenagers, tights with shapes and designs on them can be quite tacky.
But these would work for the more sophisticated woman. Pair this with a black pencil skirt and a crimson red shirt and you've got yourself a sexy, yet sophisticated outfit.
So where can we look for these high fashion designs on the high street?? Well first up you can get this amazing Kate Winslet style polka dot dress from ASOS.com.
You can get this for just €70.51 |
This dress is currently €70.51 on ASOS and would be perfect for those Christmas parties that are set to kick off soon.
Next up, if you are looking for a bargain and aren't too keen on the skin tight dresses, then this number from Awear will be perfect for you.
This is only €12 at the moment. |
The top Irish fashion store is currently doing a 1/2 price sale, so you can grab this 50's inspired look for just €12!
This would be perfect for a wedding, or a sophisticated dinner. This is more similar to the Kristin Davis number (at the top of the page). The flowing material means that you won't be tugging at the dress all night or trying to suck in your stomach. And at this price it would be crazy not to buy it. If you really want to go 50's retro then add a pair of white gloves, red lippy and a white shawl.
And like I said before you can mix and match with polka dots. If you are not interested in wearing a full blown dress with the design, you can buy these adorable pair of shoes.
Cheryl Cole wore a pair of polka dot shoes with her polka dot dress on the US XFactor (it was a bit too much) but I loved the shoes.
You can get these gorgeous light pink peep toes from Topshop, currently priced at £62.
